Interested in volunteering for Age UK, West Sussex?

At the heart of Age UK West Sussex is volunteering. The Executive Board is a group of volunteer trustees, every service we run is dependant on the dedicated skills and talents of volunteers.

If you are interested in giving a couple of hours a week or, a whole day, we are very interested in hearing from you. We provide an induction so you know what is expected of you and ongoing support. Of course there is the fun of working with older people and other volunteers.

We are always looking for volunteers.

'Daybreak - Donate a Day Campaign'

This Summer Age UK has been taking part in Daybreak's Donate a Day initiative, a campaign which, as you may remember, was firstly shown on the programme in late May. Viewers saw Adrian Chiles, Christine Bleakley and other members of the Daybreak presenting team donate their time over the course of a week for various causes - with Adrian choosing to support Age UK!

Adrian Chiles was seen on Daybreak on Tuesday (24 May) returning to his native Birmingham where he spent a day volunteering with a local Age UK, visiting the Oscott Community Centre in Perry Barr where he volunteered alongside staff and volunteers of Age UK Kingstanding, Perry Barr and Weoley Castle. On the day, Adrian relished the challenge of preparing a full English breakfast for a group of local older people.

We are thrilled that during the week commencing 22 August, Daybreak will be revisiting the Donate a Day initiative, showing a number of short follow-up film clips from all the charities involved in the campaign - including Age UK. The Age UK films are most likely to be shown on the morning of Monday 22 August - but as with most broadcast media this is subject to change.

Helena Herklots, Services Director of Age UK, will be featured on the Daybreak programme at an Age UK Islington centre talking about the success of Donate a Day for Age UK. In addition, a viewer from Braintree in Essex will be featured at the local Tabor Centre used by Age UK Essex saying why she was inspired to donate her time to us.
